This is Terrifying!!!
A 19-year-old British man nearly died after a frightening encounter with a bison while on a picnic in South Dakota!
on June 16 Amelia “Mia” Deana friend, and her friend’s dog were on the second day of a month-long cross-country road trip when they decided to go for a walk along a trail in Custer State Park. Unfortunately, things took a devastating turn when I got to the end of the road.

Mia’s father, Matthew DeanTell Dakota news now:
“They came across a hill and saw in the cliff, and they had a long way ahead, they saw a huge bison.”
While the couple was thinking of turning around to avoid the huge animal, the huge animal also seemed unfazed by their presence. Plus they had been hiking for about 2 hours and were tired. Mia told the director:
“I was really dehydrated, it was really sunny, and we both gave the dog water an hour ago.”
In the end, they decided that their best option was to continue Around bison. But this decision will prove disastrous. Her mother, Jacqueline Deantold the newspaper that hikers had walked around the bison and returned to the track when a problem occurred, explaining:
“Suddenly the bull looked up. They were over 100 yards away and the bison ran down the hill toward her. She came straight and stopped in front of her and then apparently, they had little eye contact for a few seconds.”
Mia recalled how close she was to the wild creature, describing:
“I could have stretched my hand over his forehead without stretching it quite well.”
What could have been a wonderful face-to-face moment with the wonderful power of nature quickly turned into a brutal struggle for survival.
Jacqueline said, after a short stare, the bull led the horn all the way through the teenager’s left thigh and threw it “into the air,” and Matthew added:
“We were told about 10 to 15 feet.”
Mia remembers only flashes from the near-death experience:
“I remember feeling pressure on my thigh. My hips have been pushed back and I remember the sensation of flying through the air and going over my heels.”
“The bison was stuck up and their hooves were just above my head. I remember they were just like my head.”
Fortunately, Jacqueline was able to lure the creature away and then call for help. Phew! Thank goodness for her quick thinking! Unfortunately, it was too late for her friend to come out unscathed.
Mia is now in the hospital for seven weeks. on me GoFundMe Page, Mia’s family noted that she “completely cut off [her] femoral artery” and badly damaged her leg – but they were also grateful that it was no worse:
“We are fortunate that our daughter is still breathing, as she was supposed to bleed 2-8 minutes after the severed artery and the ambulance did not arrive for 20 minutes. It is a miracle that she is alive today.”
Mia agrees saying “it’s a miracle” she survived until the ambulance arrived “not to mention” when it arrived Accuracy of the accusation In Rapid City, per Dakota news now.

She has a long health battle ahead since the bison also damaged her tibial and fibular nerves, paralyzing her from the knee down in one of her legs. Her family hopes to raise enough money for her to undergo the test and surgery in Mayo ClinicNoting that her travel insurance will not cover all expenses. Get involved in fundraising:
“Mia is English, and while her travel insurance has so far paid for a femoral artery bypass, they refuse to even pay for an initial examination by a specialist for her nerve injury. Mayo Clinic, world-class hospital in peripheral nerves (a very specialized area) , accepted Mia as a referral from Rapid City Hospital. Mia’s injury is primarily complex, including injury to blood vessels and nerves, but the nerve damage itself is also complex and extensive. This may be Mia’s best chance of regaining control of her foot, and time is running out.”
Mia was planning to come University of Edinburgh This fall, after spending a hiatus year traveling the world. She has been a passionate dancer since she was a child, which makes this leg injury so devastating. Her family will never know why this happened to her, but they believe that “God had a plan and a purpose for her because it was not the time for her to die,” he wrote:
“We have no idea why this happened to our little girl, and we wish her simply to be able to walk and dance again and live her life to the fullest, without chronic, long-term pain.”
We are sending a lot of love to Mia as she recovers!! You can hear more of her story (below).
